The Conference on Innovative Data Systems Research (CIDR) is a systems-oriented database conference, complementary to SIGMOD and VLDB, emphasizing the systems architecture perspective. The program consists of single-track keynote, paper and demo presentations, along with evening sessions including the famous gong show.

CIDR has a special place in DuckDB's history: following the SIGMOD 2019 demo paper “DuckDB: An Embeddable Analytical Database”, which first introduced DuckDB publicly, the paper capturing DuckDB's vision, “Data Management for Data Science Towards Embedded Analytics”, was presented at CIDR 2020 in Amsterdam.
